Olsalazine is a derivative of salicylic acid, and is an anti-inflammatory agent.
It reduces inflammation inside the bowel, diarrhea (stool frequency), rectal bleeding, abdominal pain, and pain associated with ulcerative colitis. More importantly, it helps to prevent recurring inflammation from taking place.
